We’re officially gearing up for our first tournament of the season this week! The boys will be tipping things off at Whitmore Lake in the Fall Kickoff. After weeks of sharpening individual skills, this week’s focus shifts to execution and running our plays with precision.
It’s also back-to-school week! With academics now back at the top of the priority list, we know the players will need a little time to adjust. Balance is key—strong performance in the classroom translates to strong performance on the court.
To help your student-athlete get back into the swing of both school and sports after summer break, here are our Top 10 Tips for Success:
Set a Consistent Routine – Sleep, school, homework, practice, repeat. Structure helps eliminate stress.
Prioritize Sleep – Aim for 8–9 hours each night to maximize focus, recovery, and energy.
Fuel the Body Right – Healthy meals and snacks packed with protein and carbs keep energy steady.
Stay Hydrated – Keep a water bottle handy all day, not just at practice.
Create a Homework Game Plan – Knock out assignments early so late nights aren’t stressful.
Use a Planner/Calendar – Track practices, games, and schoolwork to stay organized.
Limit Screen Time – Especially before bed; better rest = better results.
Communicate with Teachers & Coaches – Let them know when things get heavy so support is in place.
Take Recovery Seriously – Stretching, ice, or foam rolling after workouts helps prevent injury.
Stay Positive & Flexible – Transitioning back is tough, but with effort and encouragement, balance will come.
