Super Week...But not so Super Bowl

Now that the Lion-less Super Bowl is behind us, let’s check in with our universe!

This week in the Magic Universe, we focused on the importance of details, intelligence, and strategic responses to game scenarios. We're putting a strong emphasis on getting the boys to think the game, not just play it. Imagine basketball as a series of "if/then" statements: if a specific play unfolds, then how should we respond? This kind of critical thinking is key to elevating their skills on the court.

As we gear up for our kickoff tournament at Belleville High School, we had some exciting moments off the court. We celebrated DJ Wingate’s birthday at Skateworld in Troy. It was great to see the boys enjoying themselves on skates—it brought back memories of spending Saturdays at skating rinks.

We also had a productive session at The Compound Athletics with Coach Banks during shooting club. He emphasized situational awareness from a shooter’s perspective, reinforcing the importance of recognizing and reacting to game scenarios.

Looking ahead, March is shaping up to be a busy month packed with basketball action every Saturday and Sunday. Please take a moment to review the schedule and prepare mentally as a family for the weeks ahead.

This Friday, Coach Leif will be back to help us work on executing some of the action plans tied to the scouting reports we introduced recently. We’re excited to see how the boys continue to develop and integrate these strategies into their gameplay.

As always, let’s stay locked in and committed. Remember to put in the work at home—study your playbook, spend time watching NBA games (especially now that the Pistons are getting more interesting), and dedicate a few moments each day to honing your craft.
